Fashion 4 Change brings together influential and respected leaders from across the globe. Our goal: to empower people with knowledge about the impact on our planet caused by the fashion industry and explore new ways as both individuals and businesses, within our own institutions to live a consciously fashionable lifestyle.
Morning sESSION 1: THE DAMAGE & HOW DO WE MOVE FORWARD?
The fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world. Through the combination of a key note speech and panel discussion we will explore the current situation, how we got to this state in the fashion industry, the transparency index, water use, migrant labour and what we need to do to bring about change.
Morning Session 2: Power to the consumer; big brands and their impact
Often we mistakenly believe brands are the only ones to blame or able to implement change in the industry. Through this diverse conversation we investigate the power of the consumer, consumer trends, what principles big brands are adopting, the impact of these demands, behavioural insights and how sustainability will increase your bottom line.
Afternoon session 3: The solutions
Our international panelist will present fascinating new work discussing the importance of a circular economy, regenerative fibres, how to incorporate these practises into your business and what you can do to adopt these principles to create change.
Afternoon Session 4: Technology
Continuing the discussion of technology we look at the latest groundbreaking new developments from block chain technology to intelligent labelling, allowing consumers to connect to their clothes and with complete supply chain transparency.
Afternoon session 5: Women EMpowerment
“You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.” Brigham Young.
Approximately 75 million people work to make our clothes. 80% of them are women between the ages of 18 and 35. This panel explores the active role women empowerment plays not only within region but also within multinationals.
Global Fashion Exchange
International Swapping event Global Fashion Exchange (GFX) comes to Dubai for the first time. Founded in 2013 taking place for the premiere event during Copenhagen Fashion Week, 1500 people swapped 5.2 tons of clothes, and, in the process, a great concept was born.
GFX has grown into an international platform promoting sustainability in the fashion industry through inspiring forums, educational content and cultural events. Through interactive clothing swaps, GFX empowers consumers to take action for a better environment while they stylishly renew their wardrobe and save hundreds of thousands of clothes from going to landfills.
